Beyond the Square: Motif # 105

Motif # 105

Category: Squares

Progress: 70 of 100+

Notes:
Lots and lots of dc3togs. They always remind me of little leaves, so I've made this round green. I like this color combination and I think I've used it before and will definitely use it in the future! By the way: 70% of the Challenge is accomplished now, we're getting there... :)

Notes:
Another nice flower motif. The little ch3-spaces in the last round make the petals look "fluffy" - I like it, you don't see that very often.

Notes:
Apart from the dc3togs in the center there's nothing new and exciting about this motif, but somehow I love all my triangles so far :)

Motif # 102

Category: Squares

Notes:
The squares are getting better and better, the more I make, and this one is really unique! You start with making those loops, then you work another little center square separately and slip it over the loops, and then you continue with the actual pattern. LOVE!

Notes:
Oooh, I like the corners of this hexagon, don't you? They look like little crowns. I can imagine making lots of those motifs and joining them on the corners to form a beautiful shawl.

Motif # 18

Category: Circles

Notes: I love the shade of turquoise I've used for this circle. In the book, the motif's got a light green center, the last round is dark green. With only three rounds, this is another quickie.

Notes:
That's a pretty lacy square, made with long chain loops. Definitely needs blocking to look really good.

Notes:
I think the triangles in this book are really beautiful. This one is made with lots of dc3togs, which I love. The motif in the book is light blue with a dark blue center.

An interesting triangle! Rounds 2 - 9 are made with *sc, ch1* only, and create a look of vertical stripes - oh, I can already imagine the possibilites with this stitch pattern...!

Category: Squares

Progress: 58 of 100+

Notes:
Yes, the squares-chapter is slowly becoming my favorite section of the book (although I had my problems with these motifs in the beginning). Again, I think it's a question of colors: The squares in the book are mainly made with strong shades of red, orange, yellow, and sometimes purple. Most of the time I'm picking pastel colors and white for my motifs and I think they look fresh and friendly.

The middle of this triangle is made with dc3togs and looks like a little flower. I also love the style of the border with the little ch3-bows. A favorite!

Progress: 56 of 100+

Notes:
This is a spiral square: you're not supposed to join the rounds with a slip stitch, but to work in a spiral. It's an interesting idea, but I think the effect isn't that clearly visible - to me it looks a little bit sloppy, don't you think?

Notes:
Aaw, this one is so cute! It is suggested to use only the first two rounds to make a little flower. Maybe I'll make a bunch of those one day!

Beyond the Square: Motif # 141

Motif # 141

Category: Unusual Shapes

Progress: 54 of 100+

Notes:
This is a diamond-shaped motif, again with thin rounds of *sc, ch1*. Lots of motifs in this book are made with these stitch combinations, and every time I've mentioned that I LOVE the effect :) My motif looks again quite different from the one in the book: In the book, the motif is two-colored, the dc-rounds are green, the sc,ch1-rounds are orange. I've used pink and green for the dc-rounds and white for the sc-rounds. I've also added a last round of sc's in white, and I think it's the first time that I've made a small change to the original pattern. I like it!
